How do I contact The Plan Collection?
Visit our contact page for our contact information.
What Should I know about plans before I buy?
The plans marketed on The Plan Collection are a collaboration of plans from several designers. All plans are drawn to code for the specific region in which the respective designer resides. Modifications may be required by your local officials to meet their adopted codes and regulations. The necessity of such modifications is not evidence of poor plan quality but merely code differences. Many of our designers are members of the American Institute of Building Design to assure plan quality (The AIBD is an accredited Home designers association accepting only designer who meet their high standards of plan quality).

Can I get modifications done to the plan I like?
Yes, most designers offer a modification service. Look for the 'Customize Plan' tab on each house plan. Fill in the form on that page and we will have the designer contact you for specific customization information. If the designer does not offer modification services, you can purchase the plan (this gives you ownership of the design for a single construction). Then you may have a local draftsman redline the plan to suit your needs. You can also purchase a CAD file, which is sent to you on a CD with a copyright release to make changes to the plan. Purchasing the CAD file allows you to have a local draftsman or architect make changes directly on the computer file and have them printed locally. This is usually the best option for extensive changes.

What are the terms and conditions to a plan purchase?
Each plan purchase authorizes a single construction. Multiple uses of the plan purchased is a violation of the copyright held by the respective designer and may result in legal mediation to compensate the designer. All floor plans, renderings and other images on The Plan Collection are property of their respective designers and may not be copied or reproduced in any fashion without written consent. It is a violation of copyright laws to redraft plans found on this site to avoid plan purchase.

What should I know about engineering and architectural specifications?
Some municipalities may require plans to be reviewed by a licensed Structural Engineer or Architect to assure that the structure meets the their local codes and regulations. You may wish to check with your municipality officials before plan purchase.

How many plan copies do I need?
You can get by with five sets: two for permit application and three for your own use collecting bids from subcontractors. We would suggest purchasing our larger packages to facilitate the bid process. Certain subcontractors or suppliers may require plans for longer periods of time than others. Having more plans will speed up the process.
